Perimeter Insulation

Today is a nice weather and perfect to start the perimeter insulation. Hubby is still thinking of buying the Bitumen or not. I would like to have it on the wall, as a preventive measure so that in the future we will have no issues like wet basement walls or the like. Though it is not an assurance that it will work like that, but I guess it is better than nothing. We bought one pale of it for testing. Though hubby and his dad think otherwise, since it costs extra as well. Let's see.

Hubby and I went to the building site and started to install the perimeter insulation. I would say it was fun working with my husband in our dreamhouse. I can see the team work and that is for me, sort of bonding time for couples like us. I like the feeling.

And then my FIL arrived with our kid and mommy needs to stop helping and take care of our lil man instead. So, it's time for Papa and Grandpa to do the rest of the job. In the afternoon when the kids were sleeping, I helped again on the building site. Here are some captured moments. Too bad I am not on the pic since I took all the photos :)

Here Comes the Real Work

Basement is 3/4 done. It's time for us to finish it... whoa!

We need to do the perimeter insulation, we need to decide on the company who will deliver and install the basement windows, we need to finalize the electricity, gas, telephone and cable installation, we need to order the remaining needed materials to fully finish the basement, we need to coordinate with our earthworks company for filling-in the sides of the basement, we need to have electrical plan for the basement and many more.

We didn't start our part yet until now since hubby have projects out-of-town. We need to wait until weekends or atleast when hubby got his vacation leave. I was able to get the schedule of the on-site meeting with E-ON Mitte (electricity, gas and telecom) as well as with ZMW (in charge of the water installation). It is scheduled first week of October. Too bad that their earthworks people are not available next week. It was originally scheduled on Monday.

We also received a lot of bills today. I guess we will be bombarded with bills in the next weeks, yay! That means we need to prepare the necessary papers with supporting documents and pictures to send out to the bank. I am still scared about the bill of our earthwork company. I guess I will collapse when we receive it.

In the meantime, we are waiting for the call of our Architect for the Basement's Site Acceptance Test. This is important before we will start the perimeter insulation.

Oh and by the way, hubby got his first snail mail addressed to our future residence.. it was from the EON Mitte ha ha.

Basement Building Day 5 (Kellerbau Tag 5)

Today is the last day of building the basement. Based on the results, I would say, we are satisfied with the people from Gussek und Wolts Kellerbau and their job-well-done. They take their work seriously, they work on time, their work showed good results, and I am taken-a-back that they really clean-up every after days' work. They left the building-site organized. The Foreman and his colleagues (if available) are always there to answer any questions. The Foreman also gives advises or suggestions about how to install the perimeter insulation and the light shafts, since we are the ones who will do it.

On the other hand, we are NOT satisified about ProHaus sending us another additional costs for the basement Pipelines. Not now, that the basement is already done! They should inform us before it is being done. In that case, we can decide if we are going to have it like how it is right now or not. These Pipelines can be planned differently.

The cement is already poured-in. Our basement ceiling is almost finished. The wooden frame on the sides holds the cement.

Today I went to the building site around 10:20am to receive the delivery of the Perimeter Insulation materials. And this is how it looks like there:

Basement Building Day 2 (Kellerbau Tag 2)

At around 7:30 am I was already on the building lot. The crane is already parked but the truck with our basement walls is still on its way. The Gussek & Wolts people were already working since 7am. The weather is not so good today, because it is raining... not hard, but still raining. I hope the sun will show up today. But.. based on the Weather forecast, the next day that the sun will come out is next week - Monday.

One of the basement windows' frame was already installed, when I came back. We actually take it out of from our contract. I talked with the Foreman (Polier) and then he said it is no problem to uninstall it. We took out this window because it is not a tilt-and-turn window (Dreh-kipp).
