Underfloor Heating Plate - Part 1 (Fußbodenheizung mit Noppenplate - Teil 1)

Since the second floor is now ready for the installation of underfloor heating plate, hubby started to put it on yesterday night. I helped him cut the plates for the parts like corners. We worked for an hour and a half and the second floor area was half-finished.

This morning I continued cutting some plates for the corners, and I was able to finish two rooms and the lobby area of the second floor.

We only need to do the bathroom area and second floor is ready for the underfloor heating pipes. I am excited!

The pictures below were taken this morning after I have finished cutting some parts of the plates.

All About Floor Screed (Fließestrich)

This morning I went to double check on the Damp Proof Membrane that was installed. I need to make sure that it was properly laid so it is ready for the next step, which is the installation of underfloor heating system plates. Since there were some places where I need to undo the job, I was only able to finish three rooms at the second floor. That means, I need to do the same work tomorrow 'til Friday.

While reading on the internet, I stumbled on the website Screedscientist.com. They have good reading articles that is got to do with screed construction.

The illustration below (from Flexelinternational) is how the construction of our floor should be-like, except that we are using an underfloor heating plate instead of the Fixing Band. Another thing is, we have a Damp Proof Membrane between the insulation board and underfloor heating plate. Last but not the least, we do not have a Floor Censor.

From my previous post, we already have until the Damp proof membrane. Hubby will soon install the underfloor heating plates and the heating pipes.

Floor Insulation - Creating an Energy Saving Home

Good news! There is an update about our project ~ building our family dream house.

Today the troop from the company A & D Estrichbau arrived at around 11:15 am. They delivered our floor insulation materials and installed it as well. They finished their job at around 7 pm. Here are some chosen pictures of during and after installation.

Basically at the ground floor and second floor, they first installed the insulation board Xtratherm Thin-R Underfloor. Then they used the Isoperl® - Dustex® (This is a grained, heat and sound insulating levelling bulk on a perlite-basis under screeds), to level all the parts where pipes were installed. After that, they place the second layer of the insulation board and lastly they put the Damp Proof Membrane.

At the basement, they do the same row of the job, except that they first installed a seal foil before putting the first layer of the insulation board. The seal foil works as an optimal protection against rising damp.

Inner Structural Work in Our House is COMPLETED!!! (Innenausbau Abgeschlossen)

At last we reached another milestone in building our family dream house. Though it was tough on our end since we were having the winter flu in our house for months now, we still continue to reach our goal of moving-in to our house this year.

Cleaning the whole house was not a joke. It was really stressful since there are a lot of things laying around that needed to be all-out before the floor insulation troop arrives. And the whole house needed to be empty and very clean.

Welcome Year 20 Hundred 15.

It has been awhile since I was able to update this blog. There were a lot of things going on and I just was not able to catch up on pc.

There is only one news that I would like to share to you... WE ARE STILL BUILDING THE HOUSE.

Well actually, hubby was the one who always work there. The past months was not so good for me. I was frustrated that we did not reached our goal. That is having our floor screed delivered and done before winter season. It was no one's fault. It is just how life is. You cannot get everything what you want, just like that.

Sadly, that means... date of moving-in is unpredictably infinite.

Photovoltaic System (Photovoltaik Anlage)

Hubby and I decided to have a Photovoltaic System in our roof.

At first, I was just scared that it will give us problems instead of making us feeling secured. House building was indeed full of stress, specially in terms of things that are not happening how you want it. We already encountered issues with our plumbing and heating systems. It made our house building longer than expected.

Getting back to the Photovoltaic System, hubby and I were already at the building site early in the morning. First came the roofers. They brought high ladders and I can hear only bang klang and sounds of screwing things on our roof. That made me frown. I said to myself... "oh oh here comes the problem". It took them an hour and a half to install the clip to hold the Photovoltaic Modules. Short before 12 noon, the Photovoltaic Modules and materials arrived. The whole installation was finished at 3 PM. Then the electrician came to finish the job.

For the finish view, here are some pics...
