Laying the Copper Pipe Part 1 (Kupferrohr verlegen Teil 1)

The three of us (FIL, hubby and I) went to the building site today to lay the copper pipe for our solar collector. This can easily be bent and destroyed, therefore, we need to lay it with extra care. We lay it from the attic until the basement. We also put the protection for the copper pipe.

The heating specialist will do the installation hopefully in a week or two. We need to meet him on Monday for the plan. We prepared the copper pipe, so the heating installation process will not waste any time, it will be less work needed for the specialist and less costs on our end :)

Joints Fan for Bricks (Fugenlüfter)

We put the joints fan for our bricks.

During the brick installation, there were holes specially made for the bricks to have possible air circulation in between the wall and the bricks. On these holes, we are going to put joints fan or Fugenlüfter as they call it here. This is to prevent bees, wasps or even mouse to get-in or build their house in between the bricks and the wall.

This is how it looks like:

We installed few of it on the bricks and this is how it looks like:

Water Installation Day 3 (Wasseranschluss Tag 3)

Today was not a lot. The excavation team just need to close the holes and fix the streets that they opened. I thought at first that it will be the last day of their job. Our street has been closed since Monday. But, they are there still some parts that they were asked by the water company ZMW to repair in our street, therefore, they will be coming back tomorrow.

Water Installation Day 2 (Wasseranschluss Tag 2)

The water installation is done this morning. The excavation team just needs to close it properly.

They made a hole that is higher than planned :( We hope that it will not give any issues later specially during winter time. We were not happy about it. But we also do not like to have two holes in the basement wall.

Almost finished.

Water Installation Day 1 (Wasseranschluss Tag 1)

At 7:30 am hubby went to the building site to check on the excavation team and for the water company ZMW in-charge Herr F. They talked about how and where should the water installation be as well as the distance of the water pipeline from the planned car port.

I went there at around 9:20 am and do some dämmung and checked.

In the afternoon this is what they finished...

Water Installation (Wasserinstallation)

Last Monday, the water company ZMW called us and mentioned that they will install the water connection in our house on Wednesday. Wednesday arrived and nothing happened. No call backs or updates. It is getting more frustrated as ever. We applied for the water installation since September 2013 (before the house was built). We needed the water before the bricks installation, but it did not arrive.

Today, we received a message on our phone that on Monday they will install the water connection and start with the excavation company. They requested us (probably me... because hubby will be at work) to be on the building site at 7:30 am. We're not sure if they are arriving this time. But then, hubby went to the building site after his office work today, to do some cabling work, and --- he saw the backhoe parked in our parking lot. So, it seems that probably the water installation will go thru.

LET'S SEE...

We have POWER in the house! (endlich STROM zuhause)

Today at lunch time, the power company E-ON Mitte arrived to install the electricity meter. This was a lil bit complicated on our end since the other electric company (Gundlach), installed a different earth cable. Gundlach mentioned that they will be on the building site during the installation to ensure the E-ON Mitte that it is ok with the earth cable that they delivered and installed. Unfortunately, the person in-charge is now on his vacation leave, and they were not able to be on the site. Good thing that hubby was there with our electrician and E-ON installed the said meter.

Now, we have electricity meter and power in the house.... AT LAST! All we need to do now is to finished all the cables for socket and lights.
