Wall/Ceiling Insulation Part 3 (Dämmung Teil 3)

Today it's my turn to do the wall/ceiling insulation. I went to the building site this morning and do some work. I was only there for an hour and a half, so I was not able to accomplish a lot. And maybe because it was also not easy for me since it is now on the upper portion --- which is the ceiling. Some particles of the insulation materials were falling on my face and my eyes. Another thing is, I am not tall enough to reach the ceiling with a simple ladder. Anyway, at least I was able to start something :))

Base Sealing / Waterproofing Exterior Foundation Walls Part 4 (Sockelabdichtung Teil 4)

Base sealing or waterproofing of exterior foundation walls took a lot of time for us because of the weather. Since it is already winter, the weather is not really that cooperative. Today we finally finished the base sealing (atleast the BT 21). Hubby started and almost done with the styro on the sides.

Wall/Ceiling Insulation Part 2 (Dämmung Teil 2)

This week hubby continued the wall insulation on the house. Unfortunately, I was not able to help him because of the kids. He was almost finished on the second floor of the house.

Base Sealing / Waterproofing Exterior Foundation Walls Part 3 (Sockelabdichtung Teil 3)

We continued the unending waterproofing of the exterior foundation walls. This work depends on the day-to-day weather situation. And since the rainy season is still not finished (plus the temperature going to minus), we were not able to finish this job. Frustrating as it is, but that's how it is for now *sigh*.

Doing the base sealing is actually not hard, except for the corners. We need to make sure that the corners are totally closed and that no moisture problem will be possible to build there. In this case, we need to cut smaller pieces of BT 21 that perfectly fit on all the corners. In our house, we have 12 corners to work on. It is very important that the BT 21 serves its purpose. And that is, to keep our walls dry and moist free. Moisture damage or water damage on housewalls creates molds that is dangerous to health. Therefore, we really need to make sure that on this part, we will be patient enough to do it the right way.

Base Sealing / Waterproofing Exterior Foundation Walls Part 2 (Sockelabdichtung Teil 2)

After Kindergarten, I noticed that the weather today is sunny and not so cold. I checked on the building site and everything looks good except for one side of the house, which is still a little bit wet.

Anyway...I need to work on the opposite side so, I think it is ok. I want to do the BT21 on the corners of our two small long windows.

It was tough and not easy since when the BT21 is attached, you cannot pull it out again. Working on corners while standing on a scaffold is challenging specially if it is not perfectly build on your height ;) But atleast... I was able to finish it before going back again to Kindergarten at noon time.

Utility Room

Hubby and FIL installed the basement window in our Utility Room. This is pre-requisite for having the water installation, which should be happening soon. FIL also painted the walls white on this room. This is the only room in the house that is at least 50% finished.

Earth Cable from Power Box to the Basement

In the afternoon, Electric Company Gundlach called and mentioned they are going to check on the building site power as well as putting the earth cable from the Power Box made by E-ON to our basement. I went directly to the building site to meet the person from Gundlach.

I helped him pull the earth cable since it was not possible to do it with one person. He was on the basement pushing the earth cable out, and I was outside waiting for the site of the earth cable. As soon as it was there, I was able to pull a meter or so.. and then Gundlach went out to pull the rest.

Power, Gas and Telephone Installation Day 2 (Verlegung HausanschlüsseTag 2)

I was already on the building site at 8am this morning. The Excavation Company people were late. They arrived around 8:40am. During this times, I was able to take some pictures of what they were able to finish yesterday.

We also had luck that the TV cable was already there and they asked the Telephone Company people if the Exacavation Company people can already prepare it in. Good thing that everything went well. That is atleast one good news out of many bad news whew!

After lunch, I was able to reached the Electric Company. They said that they will do the earth cable installation tomorrow from the Hausanschluss-Säule to the basement. Since we also have the building site power from them, they also mentioned of checking on it.

In the afternoon, I went to check on the finish work of the E-ON for the Power, Electric and Telephone installations.

The Power (the one with the blue color paint) and the Gas line (the thick black cable).

This is how the installation looks like from the inside.

This is the telephone and TV cable installed inside one big pipe.

Power, Gas and Telephone Installation Day 1 (Verlegung Hausanschlüsse Tag 1)

Today at 7:55 am, I received a call from the Excavation Company who is working together with the Power, Gas and Telephone companies. They mentioned that they were already on the building site, would like to start working and needs to have an access to our basement. I went there asap and clear-up how they were going to do it. I just would like to make sure that it is how we discussed it with the Power and Telephone Companies. It took awhile before they were able to start to dig because they have a different plan from the one we discussed with the Power Company (E-ON Mitte). E-ON Mitte arrived on the building site at around 10am and called me at home. I went back to the building site to talk with them. They also talked with hubby on the phone. At the end, the installation was now infront of our house. This was how we discussed it before, except that, the Hausanschluss-Säule was originally on the side of the carport.

Here are some pics...

I went to the building site this morning to cut the BT 21 for all the corners. We were planning to do it this afternoon, but to no avail... it rained again (as usual) :(

Installing the Electric Roller Shutter Part 1 (Rolllädenmotor Installation Teil 1)

Hubby decided to install the electric roller shutter, today. Though we both have no enough sleep, because of a date last night ;) the next day is still another day to work on the building site. I actually like to finish the base sealing but the weather is not cooperating. Frustrating as it is... but that's life.

He finished installing all the electric roller shutter on the second floor of the house in one afternoon. The rest will be to follow.
