Scaffolding is Gone! (Gerüst ist weg!)

At last the scaffolding is gone. When hubby arrived at the building site this morning, the people who's in-charge of the scaffolding is starting to disassemble it. It looks totally different when the scaffolding is gone.

In this regard, I called ProHaus and asked when will our brick arrive so we can also schedule the water company installation. ProHaus mentioned that it will be in the middle or end of February. We're just waiting for a dry weather so they can start.

Workers are starting to dismantle the scaffolding around our house. The scaffolding was there from Day 1 of our house's building date.

Scaffolding is gone.

Working Alone...

Since last week, hubby was working all alone in the building site. Now that I am well, he is still working there alone :( I feel so bad about it. I would like to be of help.

Sunday Work (Kleben, kleben, kleben)

It is sunday once again. Normally it is free day, family bonding time, relaxing time... not for us. This is usually our time together to work on the building site. Today we have a lot to do. I was able to help the whole morning but not in the afternoon. We closed the cutted foil from the Air exhaust system installation. I closed the hole with special tape, and hubby put-back the insulation materials. It looks easy but it is not really that easy. We need to make sure that it is properly done, so cold temperature will not get in the house in the future. I mean, it should really be properly closed.

Electrical Control Box Installation (Elektroverteiler Installation)

Today hubby installed the electrical control box in the ground floor. Now, all it needs are the cables to be inside of that control box and then one big cable to go directly to our utility room that is located in the basement.

Planking with Wood-based Panels Part 4 (Beplankung der Innenwand Teil 4)

Planking with wood-based panels is a lot of work for hubby specially that he is working alone in our house. He continued to do some of these work yesterday and today.

Very Well Insulated (Alles Isoliert)

So so so... after waiting for months, at last we sent out our post card to ProHaus tonight. I waited for this time, because I cannot wait to see our house having it's brick facade. This post card gives a go signal to ProHaus to deliver our bricks as well as to assemble it. This also means that we are ready for our brick facade (klinkerfassade). That means, we were able to finish the base insulation, outdoor tap is already installed, electric cables were done. I am excited! I hope it will look good as we thought it would be.

Planking with Wood-based Panels Part 3 (Beplankung der Innenwand Teil 3)

Yesterday hubby worked alone again on the building site :( He accomplished a lot of works and I am very proud of him. In the morning he started the planking with wood-based panels. And continued in the afternoon.

Basement Repair (Keller Mängelbehebung)

Today the person in-charge to check and repair the problem on our Basement in the Utility Room arrived. We have reported this problem few weeks ago. It do not look so bad but if the floor fill will be there and it still caused moisture, it will then give us a big problem of mold in the floor or walls. To avoid that big problem that will also costs a lot of money, we already reported it and that is why someone was there to repair it. The pictures don't look so good. I hope it will not give us more problem instead just simply resolve the issue. Let's see.

Planking with Wood-based Panels Part 2 (Beplankung der Innenwand Teil 2)

Today is usually the schedule of work, of the Earthworks Company Geisler that is partnered with the Water Company ZMW. Unfortunately, regarding the last visit, they said that they first need the scaffolding to be disassembled. Until now, we still did not hear from ProHaus about when they are planning to take-out the scaffolding. Therefore, the water installation did not pursue.

Nevertheless, hubby worked alone on the building site (since I'm sick). I hope this will get away soon so at least he have someone to help him even on the small works on the building site.

He continued the planking with wood-based panels and then started to put cables.

Outdoor Tap Installation (Außenzapfstelle Montieren)

Hubby was alone on the building site today. This morning he continued to work on the innenwalls. And this afternoon, he was able to finish the installation of the outdoor tap.

Electrical Meter Cabinet Installation (Zählerkasten Installation)

At 1:20 pm the Electrician arrived on the building site. He started to install the electric cables on the electrical meter cabinet. He worked for almost three hours.

Air Exhaust System Installation Part 1 (LAS Luft-Abgas-System Installation Teil 1)

Today the roofer arrived at around 11 am. He was able to install the part of the Air Exhaust System that should be on the roof, as well as the other three ventilation system.

Planking with Wood-based Panels Part 1 (Beplankung der Innenwand Teil 1)

Hubby started the planking of wood-based panels in our second floor yesterday. He started to do it alone, then FIL visited there and helped him on the second, and then he do the last one alone. I just saw it today and the room looks really different. I thought that room is really so small. But after seeing the planked wood, it looks bigger. This morning while waiting for the roofer, he also started to plank the walls between the bath and another sleeping room. Way to go Schatz!

Electrical Meter Box Cabinet Installation (Zählerkasten Installation)

Yesterday afternoon the Electrician mentioned that he might pass-by the building site. Hubby went there to do some work and wait for him at the same time. Unfortunately the Electrician did not arrive. Anyway, he said maybe.

After hubby was done with his work on the building site, he tried to installed the electrical meter box cabinet on his own. I would say, he did a good job. Thumbs up, mein Schatz!!! :)

Water Company's Earth Excavation Partner's Visit (Wasseranschluss Tiefbauer Termin)

Today at 8:15 am, the earth excavation company partnered with the water company in our area visited the building site. We originally have a schedule of main water supply installation on Monday. After today's visit, they said that the scaffolding needs to be first dismantled so they can start digging. That is such a bad news. The scaffolding around our house was there since it was built. Originally it should have been dismantled early last month, but we never heard of any updates from ProHaus. We did not follow-up because the scaffolding is not bothering us at all. We were just waiting for the update of ProHaus when they wanted to dismantle the scaffolding.

The big question now is... if the scaffolding will be dismantled by monday. I will try to contact them tomorrow.

This morning after their visit, we drove to another kitchen store. We were again on this situation where they would like us to sign the contract right away. But that did not happen. Buying a kitchen is not so easy, and we are not in a hurry to sign a contract. We need to consider a lot of things, such as the kind of kitchen appliances we want and need. So, they made another schedule for us.

This afternoon we also got a call from our roofer that he will be coming tomorrow to install our Air-Exhaust-System or LAS (Luft-Abgas-System) in german.

Sounds like we have something really accomplished this week huh? I hope so. I really love seeing sign of progress in our house project.

Wall/Ceiling Insulation Part 6 (Dämmung Teil 6)

Yesterday afternoon hubby worked on the building site and started putting the ceiling insulation in our second floor. He decided to have the 240mm thick insulation materials for this part. That is originally what is needed. We were just thinking before of using 160mm thick so we can use the whole 240mm on the attic. But I think this is the best solution and then if we still have excess materials, then we will use it on the attic. We can simply add 100mm and 50mm´s or we will just simply use the 160mm that we still have. Since that is still open for discussion, we can just continue to finish what we have started.

This morning it was again my turn to work on the insulation. I finally finished the last few parts of putting the insulation materials. I am happy to see that all the ceilings in our kitchen, dining place and living room were all finished. There are only two rooms to work-on in the first floor... and that is the WC and the Guest/Work Room.

Kitchen Shopping (Küchenplanung)

Last Saturday we went to kitchen stores to check on our future kitchen. We thought we can already have a talk with a kitchen sales person. Unfortunately, it was so full, that we only got a schedule... and that is today, Monday.

We arrived on the kitchen store and plan our future kitchen with a sales person using a software on the computer and also physically checking-out how the things should look like. There are a lot of kitchen styles but we already know what we want. The only big question is, if it will remain on our budget.

Kitchen is normally one of the last things that we would like to buy for our dream house. It is because we have a lot of other priorities that need to be considered. On the other hand, we need to know NOW how our kitchen will look like, since we are starting to lay the electrical cables. We would like to know where should our sockets be. That is the reason why we checked for kitchen on this early stage.

The first schedule in planning our kitchen was good but expensive. The whole kitchen was originally costing 22,850€ whoaaaa! way too much for us. They have 60% discount for the kitchen and 30% for the electronics but still not the amount we were expecting. The sales person suggested to make another plan for us and we will stay in contact.

We will definitely check on other kitchen stores and we plan to have at least 4 quotations with the same plan.

I already tried to plan our kitchen using Ikea Kitchen Plan and also saw the amount of the whole things. I am just not sure how we will do it on the corner. So that means, we still need to visit Ikea. Maybe on the next days? :) Let's see.

Base Sealing / Waterproofing Exterior Foundation Walls FINISHED! (Sockelabdichtung FERTIG!)

This day gives a lot of positive vibes. Our Base Sealing is at last FINISHED! Horaaahhhh!!!

Theoretically we can already send the postcard to ProHaus that we are ready for our klinker. But, we would like to make sure that we are indeed ready. Hubby still needs to do the faucet outside, the lighting cable should already be in place, as well as our ding-dong ha ha ha. After these things will be accomplish (hopefully next week), then we can send the postcard. I can't wait to see that our house is finally finished from the outside.

Wall/Ceiling Insulation Part 5 (Dämmung Teil 5)

Wall/Ceiling insulation is still in progress...

Since yesterday, we continued the work on the insulation of our walls and ceilings. It is not that easy, since cutting of the insulation materials takes a lot of time. Aside from that, we need to cut many times for just one part of the house. It is also uncomfortable to work with mouth/nose protection, as well as with glasses (that protects the eyes from the falling pieces of the insulation materials).

Anyway, we are almost almost done in the first floor. We are working as a team.

Wall/Ceiling Insulation Part 4 (Dämmung Teil 4)

First weekend of the year 2014 and first weekend of the month. Another batch of ceiling and wall insulation has been done. We worked on the ground floor area. It is almost done... ALMOST. I can see progress yuhuuuuu.

It looks cuddlelicious ha ha ha. And the house is starting to get empty :)

Hubby did a good job almost finishing the ceiling of the kitchen area.
